For several years the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary has supported the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy program.
KGSA Foundation Executive Director Katy Troyer provided an update after a recent visit with KGSA graduates at Strathmore University.
Coming from Kibera, one of Kenya’s largest informal settlements, these young alumni are now thriving at one of Kenya’s most prestigious universities, pursuing degrees in law, international affairs, commerce, information technology, and other fields.
The students shared that KGSA prepared them well, giving them strong study habits, leadership experience, mentorship, confidence, and the skills needed to succeed in university and beyond. Twenty years after opening its doors, KGSA continues to prove that when girls have access to quality education, they can break barriers, build successful careers, serve their communities, and create brighter futures for generations to come.
