Rotary Club of Carlsbad Hi-Noon
The Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club welcomes Rotarians and other visitors to its Monday meetings. In-person meetings include: a buffet lunch with salads and hot entrees is open at noon, with the business meeting beginning around 12:20 p.m. Visitors are always welcome to attend club meetings.
The Club, chartered in 1980, has over 70 members. It sponsors an active Rotary Interact Club at Carlsbad High School. Each year it sends both Rotary facilitators and high school students to the annual RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) conference and to the Rotary District's LEAD program for eighth graders. The club co-sponsors the Rotary Oktoberfest jointly with the Carlsbad (evening) Club held during October citywide. Proceeds from this event are shared with nonprofit community organizations and are used by the club for local and international community service projects. For the past three years the club has produced a Scholarship Raffle with proceeds used to fund scholarships for graduating high school students for college AND trade schools.
Members of Hi-Noon Rotary volunteered over 5,400 hours in the 2024-2025 Rotary year, with local projects focusing on food insescurity, elementary/middle/high school students, seniors and families, mental health and the environment. Each year Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary's AVID (Advancement Via Individualized Education) conference for students at Carlsbad High School provides an opportunity for them to discuss business, ethics and leadership with community leaders. Hi-Noon Rotary also provides physical and financial service to a literacy project at Jefferson Elementary School, the Carlsbad Educational Foundation, the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Veterans Association of North County, Brother Benno's, the North County Food Bank, Solutions for Change and a variety of other nonprofit organizations.
The Club's International team assists in a variety of ways. During the 2024-2025 Rotary year this club bought desks for a school in Kenya, Africa; funded solar energy generation and a wastewater treatment plant in Poland; purchased food supplies and music therapy for the mental health of PTSD refugees at a peace shelter in Ukraine; helped fund the rehabilitation of a school in El Salvador; bought supplies for special needs students in El Salvador; funded gifts and special needs supplies for disabled children in Tijuana, Mexico; and continued work on a water project in Kibera, Uganda; and helped the club's CHS Interact Club ship gathered books to schools in Africa. We also support disaster relief, polio eradication, potable water and other projects worldwide.
